The T&T Project

The Test and Trace Project (T&T Project) by True Cadence, working in partnership with the NHS and Tower Hamlets Council, represented a response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The T&T Project aimed to create awareness about the importance of testing, tracing, and adhering to safety measures during the lockdown occasioned by the pandemic. The project involved the production of a video featuring professional Actor, Writer and Producer, Frankie Clarence, and young people from True Cadence who delivered key messages about COVID-19 prevention and community responsibility.

Relevance of the Project
The enormous challenges and uncertainty resulting from the pandemic necessitated the need for effective health campaigns to disseminate accurate information and encourage responsible behaviour among young people. Recognising this, True Cadence researched to gather insights from youth about their perceptions of health campaigns during the pandemic. The findings informed the development of the Test and Trace project, ensuring that it resonated with its target audience and addressed their specific concerns and preferences.

Project Impact

  • Increased Awareness: With over 3,000 views on YouTube within a couple of months, the video quickly and effectively conveyed key messages about COVID-19 testing, tracing, and safety measures, reaching a wide audience and increasing awareness about the importance of these actions in controlling the spread of the virus.
  • Behaviour Change: By incorporating diverse artistic elements such as actors, dancers, and poets, the video engaged and resonated with young people, motivating them to adopt preventive behaviours such as wearing masks, practising social distancing, handwashing, getting tested, and possibly self-isolating when necessary.
  • Community Engagement: The T&T Project fostered community engagement and collaboration, bringing together artists, healthcare professionals, and community members to create a collective response to the pandemic. This collaborative approach helped to strengthen community resilience and cohesion during a challenging time.

Programmes like this could help me in my future as it allowed me to build my confidence in on-screen acting. It also helped me to have more of an understanding of the social issues in the society, express my views and meet new people with similar interests who I feel I would be able to collaborate with in the future.
