THE EXPRESSION PROJECT

The Expression Project is live performance focused and is led by music industry professionals and experienced performers. Knowing how to perform for a live audience is a vital part of every musician’s career and income, however, many young musicians lack this skill. It’s not about going up on stage and barking your lyrics at people; as an artist, you need to understand the “Dos and Don’ts” of on-stage performance. The Expression Project will also provide you with various external live performance opportunities. Some participants of this programme performed at the 2022 10 years of Olympic Games celebration at Queen Elizabeth Park.

By the end of this programme, you will build confidence, learn how to utilise the space and engage the crowd and learn about the different live performance techniques to add to your performance “arsenal”.  You will also work with others collaboratively to plan and deliver live music events, teaching you project management skills from a self-manager/DIY artist perspective. So if you want to improve your live performance skills while benefiting from opportunities to be on stage, then this programme is for you.

WHY LEARN WITH US?

True Cadence was founded by a young person, for young people. Our programmes are co-designed with beneficiaries to ensure that the teachings are relevant to their needs. We are lived experience leaders and not just a group of people with “a good idea”. We’re creatives, we live and breathe music, and we’re “students of the game”, and this enables us to keep learning and come up with fresh ideas on how to support our young people with all aspects of their music careers. We are from the same community as our beneficiaries, we understand the challenges young people from under-resourced communities face. Our facilitators are relatable and provide uncapped music industry knowledge and activities in a way that is engaging, relatable and impactful to our young people and community.

My confidence has improved being with True Cadence. There are so many opportunities, and I’ve learned so much about myself as a performer, where I’m at now and what my next steps are to improve” – Katie.

I found it very useful, and it was nice to analyse other artists’ stage skills so that I can learn about my own skills and how I can become a better live performer” -Joshua.

The session on interview skills allowed me to understand how interviews work in the music world, and it allowed me to stress less during the interview“- Diane.

CAN I DONATE TOWARDS THIS PROGRAMME?
