MUSIC INDUSTRY MASTERCLASS
Thought about building a career in music but are not quite sure where to start? Whether you’re an aspiring artist, a songwriter or just want to work behind the scenes, learning about the business side of the industry is important NOW more than ever. We know that young creatives are taken advantage of because they’re often unaware of their rights or the opportunities that are available to them. We also know that music management courses are often unavailable at a grassroots level and are usually run by large music organisations or higher institutions.
Recording a song is only the beginning, and while your local Community Centre may provide this facility, courses on having a sustainable career in the music industry are nonexistent at times, and that is why we created the TC Music Industry Masterclass. Our expert-led sessions will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of various topics, including career pathways in the music industry, publishing, distribution, getting signed vs being independent, marketing, networking, intellectual property, monetisation and much more. All the facilitators in this programme are either actively working in the music industry or teaching Music Management at a UK University, so you’re guaranteed up-to-date and uncapped knowledge on every topic.

WHY LEARN WITH US?
True Cadence was founded by a young person, for young people. Our programmes are co-designed with beneficiaries to ensure that the teachings are relevant to their needs. We are lived experience leaders and not just a group of people with “a good idea”. We’re creatives, we live and breathe music, and we’re “students of the game”, and this enables us to keep learning and come up with fresh ideas on how to support our young people with all aspects of their music careers. We are from the same community as our beneficiaries, we understand the challenges young people from under-resourced communities face. Our facilitators are relatable and provide uncapped music industry knowledge and activities in a way that is engaging, relatable and impactful to our young people and community.

HEAR FROM ONE OF OUR PAST PARTICIPANTS
“The music industry has so many layers. I never understood what a ‘360 Deal’ was. I learnt from being on a True Cadence programme that a 360 Deal gives a record label the right to benefit from every aspect of your work. Young People like me are constantly taken advantage of. Programmes like this are needed to make sure we can prosper with our talent”- Jay, 18.
CAN I DONATE TOWARDS THIS PROGRAMME?
Donating towards our programmes/activities will allow us to reach more young people and support them when they need it the most. Your support also means that we can provide additional learning, mentoring and employment opportunities so that our young people can continue their development outside of the funded activities.
