TC’s founder has been recognised after becoming a finalist in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, following a nomination  in the Pivot Entrepreneur of the Year’ category.

Emmanuel Ebokosia (better known as Manny), set up True Cadence for success during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, had no prior experience of running a social enterprise. Eager to expand his knowledge of the third sector, he joined the Social Ark ‘Step Up’ training programme in late 2019, where he began his journey in social entrepreneurship. Driven by his lived experience as a young man from a working-class background and his music industry experience, Manny quickly made a name for True Cadence, building relationships with reputable mentors, partners and local organisations. His dedication, resilience and hard work led to Manny becoming a Board Member at Social Ark, an organisation where he was once a programme participant only a few months prior.

When asked how he felt about being nominated for the pivoted work he’s done with True Cadence, Manny responded, “Getting to this stage of this award means so much more because the pandemic hit as soon as things started picking up for us. Despite TC being a brand-new organisation with an infrastructure set up for in-person programmes, we did a complete 360, made all our programmes viable in a virtual environment and put our community first. The team put in thousands of volunteer hours over the past year to ensure that money isn’t a barrier to serving our community.”

Founded in 2013, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards acknowledges the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs and businesses in the United Kingdom.

The Awards have celebrated some outstanding entrepreneurs who have gone on to become household names. Previous winners include the founders of Grenade, Tangle Teezer, The LAD Bible, Clearscore & The Cambridge Satchel Company.

Founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca James, said: “We have seen some incredible finalists over the years, and this year is no exception. It really is one of the strongest shortlists we’ve ever had, and the fact that so many exceptional people have applied during such a tough year is a testament to the resolve and entrepreneurial talent that exists across the UK.
